The Foersight Solutions founders built the original Mel-Ray e-commerce web site in 2006 – 2007. This new site went live in August, 2009 and represents a redesign and refreshening of the site that is intended to move the company’s web presence forward and enhance the company’s ability to offer a wider range of products online. New products now available through the redesigned site include several high-end ink lines as well as screen-printing equipment and a range of startup kits for those just getting started with a screen-printing business.

The site provides fully PCI-compliant e-commerce credit card payment processing, as well as integration to UPS for both inbound and outbound shipping purposes. Mel-Ray staff have the ability to customize the product catalog, change and re-organize site menus and organization, upload new images and product attachments, and have a wide control over site content via web-based WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) content editing forms.

This web-based application built for Southwick Associates was rolled out in February of 2009 and replaces a previous survey application that the company had outgrown. The site provides a front-end introduction for all of the company’s SurveyGizmo surveys, and a blog-style “back page” and content management system where the company posts content and information of value to those who complete the surveys. The application currently front-ends the company’s two primary surveys, AnglerSurvey and HunterSurvey, but is extensible and configurable for multiple such surveys in the future.

The application includes several custom-developed integrations with SurveyGizmo for the purposes of collecting and passing additional data into the surveys and for pulling respondent and response data back from SurveyGizmo. There is also an administration utility allowing secure backup to Amazon S3 storage.

This web-based application built for International Coatings Company, Inc. was rolled out in December of 2008 and replaces an outdated desktop application provided to the company’s customers and distributors. The site provides specific Pantone© simulation formulations and mixing quantities for several of the company’s product lines, as well as estimated batch cost based on pricing of the constituent ingredients. The site also allows registered users to create and store custom ink formulations and manage their own ingredient pricing for more accurate costing.

The site includes site administration utilities for managing ink families and formulations, and content management features for the context-based help system.

The Mel-Ray Industries web site went live in January of 2006 and is currently listed on the first page of Google results for relevant search terms such as “screen printing supplies”. The application was built in Ruby on Rails and features an innovative AJAX QuickPicker™ shopping cart for an easy and efficient shopping experience. Other features of the application include e-commerce/payment processing integration, full integration to UPS shipping API, and administrator-configurable content and catalog management.

Note: Tom Townsend won the August, 2008 primary and in November was sworn in as Superintendent of Putnam County Schools. Upon his swearing-in the campaign website was taken down per directions from the candidate.

The Tom Townsend, Candidate for Superintendent of Putnam County Schools, web site went live in April, 2008, and was built in support of the candidate’s campaign for the November 2008 elections. The application was built in Ruby on Rails and features administrator-configurable content and a fully searchable/reportable database of 41,000+ registered voters in Putnam County.

Foersight Solutions also assisted the campaign with configuration, administration and training of a Mailman list server and web-based collaboration tools.

AnglerSurvey.com is a fishing sports survey application owned and run by Southwick Associates, a company based in Fernandina Beach, Florida specializing in quantifying the business-side of fish and wildlife. The survey itself is written in PHP and generates several hundred thousand lines of survey data per year. The AnglerSurvey Query Tool is a Ruby on Rails application that provides broad-based query and analysis access to the AnglerSurvey (and companion HunterSurvey) data via a wizard-style interface.

The AnglerSurvey query application requires login authentication – demos are available upon request.

The custom manufacturing application built for J4-Inc. is used to manage all aspects of the company’s manufacturing operations, including inventory control, scrap reporting, parts bills, job routing, efficiency tracking, cost variance analysis, and shipping documentation. The application creates advanced materials purchasing forecasts based on accumulated customer order and materials purchasing data and enables proactive inventory management. The application was built in Visual Foxpro.
